Vines on their convoluted way to the canopy Hinchinbrook Island - Queensland - Australia show detail prevnext
This scene no longer exists. I visited this location a year after I photographed it, and what I found was a vine which had become so heavy that it had pulled down its host trees, and brought the rainforest canopy down with it. This may have occurred during a cyclone. The rainforest is forever changing, with different species competing for the most favourable conditions.
