A carpet of green velvet touches the milky waters of Hinchinbrook Channel. The island in the centre is named Haycock Island and because of its shape, its steep forested sides are mirrored in the water. Most of the southern end of Hinchinbrook Island to the right, is vegetated by dense rainforest abutted by a mangrove intertidal zone.
