Buttongrass meadows cover the Pelion Plains in Cradle Mountain - Lake St. Claire National Park. Wombats graze extensively at night on the lush grasses, whilst Wedge Tailed Eagles patrol the skies during the day. Mt. Oakleigh off in the far distance stands graciously above the plains, piercing the sky with dolerite columns.
