Sunken Reef Bay, situated on the East Coast of Hinchinbrook Island is named after a submerged reef just to the north of the bay. Early one morning I was photographing near the northern end of the bay, and just a few metres away a turtle surfaced as if to say 'good morning'. Its hearty breaths sucking in air was a welcoming sound. At the same time some Birdwing Butterflies (Australia's largest and most colourful) came fluttering down and hovered around me. Just when it apeared the show was over, a dolphin surfaced a little farther away near the beach...
