A sacred wildness Hinchinbrook Island - Queensland - Australia show detail prevnext
An arc of sand and lush rainforest hinterland make way for towering mountains, rising more than a thousand metres in elevation. The forest behind Zoe Bay is a rare example of lowland rainforest, most of which has been cleared on the mainland. It is home to many rainforest birds and bats. The precipitous peaks shelter the rare Dallachy Blue Banksia, which are only found in high altitudes of Hinchinbrook Island and some peaks on the adjacent mainland.
